Couples Counseling

Couples Counseling, Pre-Marital Counseling, & Marriage Counseling

With many years of experience helping couples find hope and healing in their relationships, our counselors are ready to walk alongside both of you.  We love to help couples learn how to reconnect with each other after years of emotional disconnect, learn to forgive after the pain of affairs, and experience renewal of passion and love in their relationship.  We also offer pre-marital counseling as we help new couples prepare for their life together.  Our counselors use the Prepare and Enrich pre-marital assessment tool to help couples take an honest look at all aspects of their lives together in a safe therapeutic environment.  The Prepare and Enrich Assessment program is empirically based and proven to be one of the most effective tools in helping couples.  Let us help you discover new ways to communicate your needs, fight fair, increase your intimacy, and resolve conflicts more effectively.

Child & Teen Counseling

Family Group Counseling, Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Game and Media Boundaries, and other Child and Teen counseling topics

We are passionate about helping children and adolescents grow and thrive in an ever changing and confusing world. Helping parents learn ways to communicate effectively and truly understand their child to strengthen this essential bond is at the very heartbeat of our counseling.  We serve children starting at age 4 with issues such as: anxiety, depression, defiance at home and school, AD/HD, bullying, self-harm, suicidal ideation, communication skills and school performance.  In counseling children ages 4-10, we primarily use Child-Centered Play Therapy.

Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) is a way of working with children in which they express themselves through play and toys.  In play therapy, the toys become a child’s words and the play becomes their language.  By facilitating play therapy, we provide an environment where children experience safety and learn to feel self-confident; limit their problem behaviors; and tap into their true potential.  Play therapy centers around the developmental truth that children organize their world and express their understanding of their environment through play.  Through play, children begin to make sense of their experiences and learn coping skills.

Because the goal in CCPT treatment is to create conditions in the play room and with the therapist so that the child can experience growth and integration, toys are strategically chosen, and the counselor works on conveying genuineness, unconditional positive regard and empathy.  Additionally, the CCPT approach is child-centered versus problem-centered allowing for this type of play therapy to be effective with children labeled with many different diagnoses as well as those struggling with normal developmental delays.
